NAACCR webinar: 2026 updates review

NAACCR is hosting a webinar reviewing key changes introduced for 2026, along with answers to questions submitted over the past six months. The focus will be on new and revised SSDIs and the Solid Tumor Rules 2026.1 update. A recording will be posted afterward on the NAACCR Education and Training website.

NAACCR Fall 2026 ODS exam prep

NAACCRs Fall 2026 ODS Exam Preparation and Review Webinar Series is open for registration. The eight-week course covers a different topic related to the exam each week. Every session includes a lecture, Q&A, a quiz and a reading assignment. Participants have unlimited access to lecture recordings until the end of the testing window.

Kentucky Cancer Registry 40^th Annual Advanced ODS Workshop

The Kentucky Cancer Registry (KCR) is holding their annual conference August 27 – 28 in Louisville. Featured topics for this day and a half educational workshop include:

• The Evolution of Rectal Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment

• Cellular therapies in oncology

• Emerging uses of artificial intelligence in cancer registry workflows

The workshop has been approved for 10.25 Category A CEs.

2026 WCRA MCRA Conference

The Wisconsin and Minnesota Cancer Registrar’s Associations (WCRA/MCRA) have announced that registration is open for the 2026 WCRA/MCRA Conference. The conference will be offered both in-person and virtually October 1-2. Please see the MCRA/WCRA 11^th Annual Regional Education Conference webpage for more information.

Please note the following important information:

• After registering, a confirmation email from the WCRA Executive Committee will be sent. Please retain the email for your records.

• A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hilton Garden Inn through August 30. If planning to attend in person, it’s recommended to make reservations as soon as possible.

• Presentation handouts will be emailed to all registered attendees no later than Monday, September 28.

• Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees on Thursday, October 1.

Announcement from FCDS: FCDS has partnered with three Florida facilities that will host the monthly NAACCR Webinar Series at their locations. The FCDS website will feature a registration page where attendees can sign up to attend at their preferred location. Please see the locations below. This incentive allows registrars to earn in-person CE credits (CEIP) by physically attending any of these sites that broadcast the webinars. You must register for each webinar separately – the link dates are updated for each webinar after the previous one ends.

*Per an FCDS/NAACCR agreement, Florida FLccSC users must hold at least one active User Permission or Access Role in an IDEA facility to view NAACCR Webinar recordings; all other recordings remain open to users regardless of IDEA access. User Roles must be renewed every 6 months. FCDS has automated this check, verifying your access status at every FLccSC login (via IDEA or web). SEER releases 2026.1 Solid Tumor Rules

On July 20, SEER released an updated version of the Solid Tumor Rules (2026.1 Update). This update replaces all previous versions.

Per the announcement, key updates include the following:

• Alignment of histology tables with Cancer PathCHART

• Clarified that patterns of lung adenocarcinoma are able to be used for mixed subtypes (8255/3)

• Deleted inaccurate note that stated 8010/2 is impossible for lung

• Changed coding instructions for ductal adenocarcinoma (8500/3) for prostate

• Changed reportability instructions for paragangliomas: all are reportable as /3 behavior even if stated to be benign

• Clarified reportability instructions for gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs): all are reportable as /3 behavior even if stated to be benign, borderline, or NOS

The manual’s online-only Revision History provides a comprehensive description of changes.

NCRAs 2027 call for abstracts open

NCRA is now accepting proposals for oral presentations and poster abstracts for NCRA's 53rd Annual Educational Conference. The conference will be held in San Diego, California, May 10-13, 2027. 

If interested in submitting an outline for either format, please read the 2027 Guidance Document. Oral presentations and poster abstracts will be accepted through the 2027 NCRA Online Abstract Collection Site. The submission deadline is Friday, Aug. 14.

The 2027 Program Committee will review all submissions. Authors of selected abstracts will be notified by mid-November 2026.  

Important: Selected speakers are required to present in-person in San Diego.

The Tumor Proportion Score (TPS) is based on “An assay performed on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue specimen of at least 100 cells taken from the patient. The assay is used to determine the PD-L1 expression by IHC. Then the pathologist determines the tumor proportion score.”

The TPS equals the percentage of viable tumor cells (“% Positive Tumor Cells” in report example) showing partial or complete membrane staining (any intensity) out of all viable tumor cells in the sample. When a path report for NSCLC lists "% positive tumor cells" for PD-L1 IHC, that number is the TPS.

Be careful not to confuse the Combined Proportion Score (CPS) or Immune Cell (IC) score with the TPS.
